Le Castella and Santa Severina

General information Facebook Twitter Google+ Pinterest Linkedin

Le Castella and Santa Severina “between sea and mountain to get to know the best calabrian wonders”

Things to do

Le Castella is really a charming place. A small Calabrian village on the island of Capo Rizzuto, where you can admire a beautiful Aragonese castle that rises in the middle of the sea and admire beauties that justify its fame as a “piece of paradise in Calabria”. Le Castella's peculiarity is its location, which makes this building appear to emerge from the sea like a goddess. The fortress Le Castella is placed in an environmental situation of high natural value, surrounded by the Capo Rizzuto Marine Reserve, created in 1991. Continuation of the trip will be Santa Severina, where you will have lunch in a restaurant based on typical products. The beauty, charm and traditions of this village have always attracted the interest of tourists, so much so that today Santa Severina is considered one of the most beautiful towns / villages in Italy (it is on the list of the Association “The most beautiful villages in Italy”). This is only the first reason to visit it! Founded in the 9th century, Santa Severina has one of the most beautiful castles in southern Italy, completely restored, revealing 1200 years of history, in addition to the famous Byzantine Baptistery, which art scholars consider one of the most significant Byzantine monuments in Calabria. Return to Cosenza.
